We (James & Tennille Massingale) serve the residents and staff at Jefferson Railhead in Frisco, TX, building community through acts of care and fun, high-impact events. Connecting residents with each other and the greater community around them, offering love and compassion, and meeting practical needs is transformative to individuals and the community as a whole. You can help by participating in an upcoming event and/or making a financial gift to support this important work.
Your gift will go directly to support Massingale’s on Mission through our sending church, Harvest Ministries, helping us continue spreading kindness, hope, and the love of Christ.
Our primary goals: (1) connect people to Jesus, and (2) connect people to each other. Beyond our events, we're able to pray with several residents facing real challenges from health concerns and family separations to unexpected hardships and remind them of God's protection, peace, and faithfulness.

Welcome to Frisco, TX!
We know moving to a new city can be tough. Here’s some information that we hope you’ll find helpful in your move to our Frisco Community!

Schools
Many families choose to call Frisco ISD home due to our outstanding reputation for academic excellence, innovative programs and wealth of extracurricular opportunities and experiences.
At the heart of our success is a student opportunity model that has guided the District through three decades of explosive enrollment growth. With the support of parents and the community, leaders remain committed to creating personalized learning environments, as evidenced by our mission to know every student by name and need. This philosophy drives our day-to-day efforts to understand each child’s unique circumstances, his or her strengths and weaknesses and the role we must play to ensure each student reaches his or her full potential.
It is also reflected in the deliberate manner in which we build and configure our schools. Elementary schools serve 700-plus students in grades K-5, middle schools serve 800-1,000 students in grades 6-8 and high schools serve up to 2,100 students in grades 9-12. (New high schools open with fewer grade levels and add one grade level a year until they serve grades 9-12.)
Frisco ISD currently enrolls more than 64,000 students in 12 high schools, 18 middle schools, 1 intermediate school, 43 elementary schools and 3 special programs schools.
FISD is located about 30 miles north of Dallas, Texas, and encompasses 75 square miles in Collin and Denton counties, including most of the City of Frisco and portions of neighboring Plano, McKinney and Little Elm.
As a state, Texas allows each ISD to operate under “open enrollment” if it chooses allowing families to choose which school their child goes to within their home ISD. Some ISDs (e.g. Frisco ISD) have "open enrollment" for families living outside of district boundaries. This means you have options:
-
You can find out what your “assigned” school is within your designated ISD. Your assigned school is the one that has to allow you to attend and you don’t need a formal process of application. It can be tough to find out what your assigned school is so you can try and plug in your address at https://tea.texas.gov/texas-schools/general-information/school-district-locator, or you can call the school district and ask them.
-
If you want to attend a public or charter school (e.g. Founders Classical Academy) that is not your assigned school, you can apply for any school you like but you'll have to contact them about their out-of-district transfer process. Some ISDs allow and may have a waiting list while others may not allow it at all.
When it comes to schools, there are a lot of options. Charter schools and academies often have uniforms, run a more classic program with a focus on reading and writing, and higher academic expectations. The larger public schools have to compete for students and so they often have great programming and options that the smaller academies and charter schools cannot provide (i.e. UIL). The key for any school is to research and apply early for the following school year. Otherwise, waitlists develop.
The closest private Christian school is Legacy Christian Academy, to which a Texas School Voucher may be utilized.
Church
We would, of course, love to invite you to Harvest Ministries any weekend of the year for services as well as throughout the week for Bible studies and small groups. Our church is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational body of people who demonstrate bold faith, unconditional love, servant leadership, and kingdom multiplication. Our desire is to make Heaven standing room only!
Join us on Sundays at Braswell High School where we currently meet. You can learn more about us and complete a digital Connect Card on our “Plan Your Visit” page before your first visit so we can be ready to welcome you with a reserved parking spot, give you a gift, and love on you and your family from the time you arrive!
Braswell High School, 26750 E University Dr, Aubrey, TX 76227
We have a kingdom mindset at Harvest Ministries and want to provide opportunities for you to discover a church home in the event Harvest is not home in this season of your life. Visit Next Sunday to discover churches all around the DFW Metroplex.

Weather
Texas has five seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Construction, so get ready! Also, when you told your family and friends you were packing up to move to Texas, did anyone say how unpredictable the weather was going to be? For the most part, the weather is hot, not dry heat like in Arizona but still hot. We do have winters with a rare occasion of snow but icy conditions are pretty common. There are also rainy seasons but sometimes the rain just does what it wants to do and we like it because it cools things down which you'll come to realize is a blessing. Lastly, hail storms and tornadoes are fairly common in North Texas. Welcome!
